It’s common knowledge that quality content is what brings people (and keeps people engaged) to your site. You can dramatically grow your organic search traffic by improving your content offering. So, what if we told you that there’s a way to get great content ideas for your website without even touching keyword research? You’d think we were telling fibs, wouldn’t you?
Well, we’re not.
It’s quite simple to start to get a bit more insight on the types of questions relating to your organisation that people are asking Google. The answers live in your Google Search Console reports. Follow this easy guide to unveil new content ideas for your site with just a few clicks.
- Open Google Search Console – link here
- In the left navigation, click “Search Results”
- At the top of the screen click “Add a Filter” (select “+ New”)
- Select “Query”
- Select “regex”
- Enter: (?i)^(who|what|where|when|why|how)
You will now see the questions (keywords) for which your site is getting impressions and clicks. You should start by focusing on the questions that have high volumes of impressions and relatively low volumes of clicks (i.e. a low click-through rate). A low click-through rate likely means that your content isn’t sufficiently aligned to the searcher’s intent and, as such, is appearing either lower down the results page or just not attracting clicks.
